โœฆ Synopsis

Tinted, semi reflecting glass, produced by a commercial process involving the electrolytic injection of particles of a metal species into the surface layers, was studied using 1 MV high voltage electron microscopy. A quantitative assessment was made of the particle size distribution and volume distribution using stereomicroscopy, and the nature of the particles was identified by high resolution selected area diffraction. The colloidal particles are shown to be distributed according to size and chemical species into separate zones close to the surface.
