A new series of barium-free 1212-type superconducting mercury-based cuprates involving iron, (Hg 1Γ€y Fe y )Sr 2 -(Y 1Γ€x Ca x )Cu 2 O 7Γ€d (y = 0.5; 0.0 6 x 6 1.0), has been synthesized through the citrate-gel process and the sealed quartz tube method.
