✦ Synopsis

A new statisticalprocedurefor modelling factory workshop noise by means of a trigonometric series is developed. Based on a data collection methodology, this paper establishes a statistical data basis for workshop noise. Estimates of the population mean and standard deviation as well as their confidence intervals are presented. The results are expressed as a functional expansion and the stochastic model that gives the solution to the problem is an ellipsoid characteristic of the system, based on the statistical theory of 'analysis of variance' and is valid in every case.
