By fast switching a Stark field, absorption tmnsient phenomena -especially weakly damped oscillations -have been observed in a gas irradiated by a cw resonant microwave. A qualitative esplrtnation, fitting Dicke's theory about pulse techniques in microwave spectroscopy, is proposed.
