Abs~act~--The problems of the design of a high-intensity vacuum ultra-violet light source are discussed and details of an argon-arc source which has an output of 3 ร 10 le quanta sec -1 cm -~ are given. Methods of source calibration are considered including the measurement of the source output whils

โฆ Synopsis
of soluble bromide based on simple extraction with water may give results that are much too high because of the formation of silver-gelatin compounds (report of which was published in B. S. Research Paper No. 376) and consequent decomposition of the silver bromide. This error may be avoided by extracting the bromide with dilute acid.
