✦ Synopsis

Abstract

In a new simplified model, heterotopic heart transplants in rats function normally with only an aortoaortic anastomosis when one of the 5 lobes of the lungs is attached to the transplant. If an attempt is made to remove the remaining lobe of the lung, the heart dilates, fibrillates, and eventually stops beating. Since the surgery is not very complicated, this procedure can be performed by nonsurgeons in an unhurried manner with minimal training.

We introduced the heterotopic vascularized sternum transplant as a more simple and pure alternative to allogeneic hind limb transplantation for the study of bone marrow transplantation. We report the clinical and histopathological manifestations after transplantation of syngeneic and allogeneic ster
