Copper triflate has been found to be an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of benzimidazoles from oโphenylenediamine and aldehydes at reflux temperature under acetonitrile solvent. This new method consistently has the advantage of excellent yields (74โ95%) at reflux temperature. J. Heterocyclic Chem., 2010.
