Copper triflate has been found to be an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of benzimidazoles from oโ€phenylenediamine and aldehydes at reflux temperature under acetonitrile solvent. This new method consistently has the advantage of excellent yields (74โ€“95%) at reflux temperature. J. Heterocyclic Chem., 2010.
