✦ Synopsis
The potassium and cesium salts of Se02F-have been prepared by the reaction of Se02 with appropriate fluoride in the melt and in solution in dimethyl sulfoxide and in 48% HF. The Raman and infra-red spectra of both salts have been measured and certain reassignments of the fundamental vibrations of Se02Fhave been made. K2Se02F2 has been prepared for the first time by heating KSe02F with KF at approximately 300' C. The Raman spectrum has been measured and the observed bands assigned to the normal modes of a pseudo trigonal bipyramidal Se202F 2of c 2v symmetry. An attempt to prepare the salt Cs2S02F2 was unsuccessful.
