โœฆ Synopsis

A re-description of Tubifex newaensis (MICHAELSEN), (Oligochaeta, Tubificidae) with a consideration of its taxonomic position in the genus MICHAELSEN (1903) gave an incompletely illustrated account of this species from a few specimens deposited in St. Petersburg Museum and collected in the River Newa in that city. Because of the absence of hair-chaetae, he placed it in the genus .Lirnnodrilus, and, in the absence of an illustration of the form of the male efferent ducts, I was unable to determine its true generic position until material was donated to me by Dr. PODDUBNYA who had worked on this species from the River Volga (Rybinsky Resevoir).
