The autopolycondensation of alkyl ct-(S)-malates in the presence of N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide under mild conditions was studied. It was established that the final product consists of low molecular N-acyl derivatives and optically active polyester fraction with 3~ n up to 4000 and low polydispers

The sulfenylation of ketones having a-hydrogens has been achieved using N-chlorosuccinimide (NCS) under mild reaction conditions to produce a-ketothioethers in excellent yields with high selectivity. The use of NCS makes this method quite simple, convenient and practical.
