β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
A novel miniaturized frequency selective surface is proposed. The size reduction is achieved by bending the edge of square loop aperture into the inner space to lengthen the resonant length. Compared with conventional square loop aperture frequency selective surface (FSS), the area of this miniaturizedβelement is reduced by 78% at the same operation frequency of 2.9 GHz. Both theoretical and experimental investigations are carried out. It is observed that the miniaturized FSS presents excellent center frequency stability with the increase of the incident angle. This proposed FSS can be a good candidate for FSS radomes which present large incident angle to the coming wave. Β© 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract The authors describe a novel concept for reconfigurable frequency selective surfaces based on metallic dipole and crossβdipole elements connected by switches on an exposed silicon substrate. As the conductivity of silicon can be varied over a large dynamic range by photonic excitation,
## Abstract A pin diodeβloaded active doubly periodic flat strip FSS is shown to act as a dynamic screen. It is shown that by means of d.c. bias control, we can utilize the screen in, (1) transmission mode as a dual band electromagnetic shutter, or with the inclusion of a ground plane in reflection
We have experimentally studied the selective reflection spectra of a circularly-polarized laser beam from a sub-micrometric Rb vapor cell with a thickness L around Ξ»/2 (Ξ» = 780 nm being the laser wavelength tuned to the D~2~line) in the presence of a longitudinal magnetic field.
