✦ Synopsis

Abstract

In this article, a heart‐shaped monopole antenna with wide bandwidth is proposed, which is composed of a heart‐shaped monopole patch and two rectangular ground plane, both of the structures are printed on the same side of a substrate and fed by a coplanar waveguide. The simulated and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed antenna performance is not only suitable for ultra wideband applications but also for radio‐frequency identification systems, the impedance bandwidth can be achieved from 2.1 to 11.5 GHz (S~11~<−10 dB), more than 110%. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
