✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The proposed butterfly‐shaped monopole ultra‐wideband (UWB) antenna consists of two radiating elements (wings) positioned with an angle between them, which provides one more dimension for impedance matching. The simulated and measured results show that the design achieves a broad impedance bandwidth and stable radiation performance over the UWB band. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract In this article, a novel p‐shaped printed monopole antenna is first proposed to operate simultaneously at the 2.45 and 5.8 GHz bands for radio frequency identification tag. Printed on a standard 1.6 mm FR4 substrate material, the printed monopole antenna has been demonstrated to provide
