✦ Synopsis
Abstract
In this article, a newly asymmetric stepped‐impedance hairpin resonator (SIR), comprised of a meander line and a pair of symmetric parallel coupled lines, is presented to implement circuit reduction. Moreover, a compact filter is designed and constructed by using this novel asymmetric SIR and a slotted ground plan for spurious suppression. This proposed low‐pass filter was designed, fabricated, and measured. The experimental results of the filter have a good agreement with the simulated results. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The design formulas are derived based on coupled-line filter theory and the equivalent-circuit network. This filter not only achieves better selectivity, but also suppresses the 2 nd -harm
A new microstrip stepped-impedance hairpin resonator (SIR) low-pass filter (LPF) using aperture is proposed. This filter has the advantages of compact size and easy fabrication. Also, it provides a very sharp cutoff-frequency response with low insertion loss of 0.13 dB and wide-stopband characterist
## Abstract A novel low‐pass filter (LPF) is introduced in this article. The filter consists of a pair of feed lines with spurline resonators and a compact step impedance hairpin resonator. Because of the use of spurline resonators, the LPF exhibits better stopband characteristics and improved ripp
## Abstract In this paper, a new microstrip stepped‐impedance hairpin resonator (SIR) low‐pass filter (LPF) using a defected ground structure (DGS) is proposed. The proposed SIR hairpin low‐pass filter using DGS provides a very sharp cutoff frequency response with low insertion loss. Furthermore, t
