โฆ Synopsis
field of 18.5 kOe such a uniformity is maintained over a length of 35 mm, while in a field of 25 kOe it is over 10 mm. Experiments 1'2 have shown that the uniformity of the magnetic field in the transverse direction (ZX plane) of the superconducting magnets of this construction is not worse than the uniformity along the magnet axis (OY).
Analysis of the results obtained shows that superconducting solenoids with ferromagnetic shields in large magnetic fields up to 30 kOe have a magnetic field uniformity AH/H <~ 1 to 2 x 10 -4 in a sufficiently large working volume. By choosing t/a ---2, magnetic fields up to 40 kOe and higher can be obtained with high uniformity.

## Abstract A new creep sample geometry is presented which has round heads instead of threads to connect to the grips. This reduces high temperature adhesion problems considerably. In addition, the production of samples from materials which are difficult to machine or which requires expensive machi
