β¦ Synopsis
We propose a new type of demultiplexer (DEMUX), a ''hybrid DEMUX'' based on single flux quantum (SFQ) circuitry. It consists of a 1-to-M binary-tree DEMUX and M sets of 1-to-N shift-dump DEMUXes. It distributes input data signals to M Γ N channels. The timing margin for synchronization between this DEMUX and the back-end circuit is M Γ Γ°N Γ 1Γ times as large as that for a binary-tree DEMUX. The operating frequency of the hybrid DEMUX is as high as that of a binary-tree DEMUX. We designed and tested a 1-to-16 hybrid DEMUX (M ΒΌ 4, N ΒΌ 4). The output distributed data sets were identical to the input data sequences, and a larger timing margin of 12 clock periods was obtained. These results indicate that the hybrid DEMUX was operated correctly.
