✦ Synopsis
The title complex, {Co(4,4 H -bipy)(H 2 O) 4 Á2H 2 O} n (where bipy is bipyridine, C 10 H 8 N 2 , and CCA 2À is 2-carboxylatocinnamate, C 10 H 6 O 4 ), is a linear polymer constructed from cobalt and 4,4 H -bipy, and which contains uncoordinated CCA 2À counter-ions. There are two independent formula units in the asymmetric unit. OÐHÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds connect the structure into a three-dimensional network.
