✦ Synopsis

In the title compound, {[ZnCl 2 (C 6 H 4 NO 2 )] 2 [Zn(H 2 O) 6 ]Á-2H 2 O} n , one Zn atom is involved in the formation of onedimensional infinite zigzag anionic chains, whereas the second Zn atom, located on a twofold axis, is surrounded by six water molecules as a hexaaqua cation. The occurrence of O-HÁ Á ÁO and O-HÁ Á ÁCl hydrogen bonds results in a supramolecular three-dimensional network.
