✦ Synopsis

Preparation and laser operation of a new tunable solid-state laser in the spectral range 530-630 nm is reported. Slope effkiency at 580 nm is 3.5% and the laser threshold is less than 60 pJ.

Solid state tunable lasers are prepared by incorporation of photostable luminescent dyes into glass matrices prepared by the sol-gel method. Laser oscillation at a wavelength between 400 nm and 700 nm may be obtained. The laser parameters absorption, cross-section, radiative and measured lifetime, q
