β¦ Synopsis
The elimination of trimethylsilylbromide from either cis or trans-l-methylene-2-bromo-3trimethylsilylcyclopropane over solid cesium fluoride using the vacuum gas-solid reaction procedure yields methylenecyclopropene.

1-Chloro-3-methylenecyclopropene was prepared by vacuum gas-solid elimination of 2,2-dichloro-1-methylene-3-(trimethylsilyl)cyclopropane over solid cesium fluoride and characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy at -103 Β°C.
In light of the recent flurry of activity in the area of methylenecyclopropene syntheses, 2-6 we are prompted to report our work on a potentially simple approach to this general problem. This method is one that has been applied successfully to the analogous heptafulvene7 system and involves simply p
