✦ Synopsis
A new ultraviolet band system idcntZed ar em&ion from the theoretically predicted but so far unobserved '@ state of NO trapped in an argon matrix is reported. The energy of the u = 0 level is estimated to be 6.57 -c 0 015 or 6.785 * 0.015 eV. The intensity distribution yields an internuclear distance of 1.415 "_ 0.015 A.
