β¦ Synopsis
A special cryostat has been designed for studies on freezing biological specimens. It is modified so that the thermal history of a given cell location can be defined and the experiment reproduced.
Prefiminary tests have been carried out with the cryo~tat using three dilferent coofing methods examining the characteristics of the cooling processes. The test results bring to light some important factors to be considered tn b/ological freezing The apparatus may also be used for a range of pool boiling heat transfer experiments.
