โฆ Synopsis
The variation with pressure of the two components of the electronic origin band of the first singlet-singlet transition in crystalline naphthalene is considered. A model is constructed which gives a satisfactory account of this variation. The splitting contains both Coulomb and overlap-dependent terms and the mean shift contains dispersion terms.
