โฆ Synopsis
AlMsnct-A model for fatigue crack growth, similar to that of Majumdar and Morrow, is proposed where the ' crack growth rate is determined from the iow cycle fatigue and cyclic strcss~train response of tbc material. The model is for a constant stress range at infinity, but does allow for a v&able stress intensity factor due to the changing crack length. The study also includes an analysis of the strain range in the neighborhood of the crack tip. Further it is shown that the model predicts the critical strass intensity factor. A prediction of the crack growth rata is made for 2024-T351 aluminium, coppar and CW5.3 AL alloy and is compared to the experimental observations.

Stress intensity factors for a crack passing through a step in a plate where the thickness discontinuously decreases were derived from crack propagation tests and two-dimensional finite element analysis. Finite element analysis was used to generalize the effect of geometric parameters (plate width,
A circular element centered at the crack tip is constructed. According to the first four terms of Williams stress function, the displacement pattern with singularity is given to the circular element, where unknown parameters are considered as generalized nodal displacements. ## A model for the fatigue crack propagation is developed which incorporates the bulk cyclic and low-cycle fatigue properties of the material. The model predicts the R-ratio effects on the fatigue crack growth at low and intermediate stress intensities. The concept is based on the product of stres
