โœฆ Synopsis

An analytical solution is presented for the flow between two parallel plates in the presence of a net-like material. A mathematical model is postulated CO simulate the flow in an electrodialysis ceil, i.e., between two membranes in the presence of a "spacer". Darcy's law is extended to include this model. Beside the analytical solution, a single non-dimensional number is shown to characterize the spacer.

The proposed "'mesh step" model rcprcscnts the mass transfer process as a laminar concentration boundary layer whose development is periodically interrupted. The boundary layer develops along a given characteristic Iength at the end of which it undergoes partial mixing, i.e., it regresses to an earl
