Abstract

A basic inequality which is necessary and sufficient for macroscopic stability of lumped dynamical systems is applied to obtain further insight into the construction of stability regions, development of stability and control criteria, and meaning and simplified derivation of some conventional results.

In this note we are concerned with the linear theory of the thermodynamics of dielectric materials in the presence of memory e!ects for heat #ux. Restrictions imposed on the assumed constitutive equations by Thermodynamics are "rst determined. Then, we introduce a particular maximal free energy, tha

## In this work, we present a new absorbing boundary condi-( ) tion for the finite-difference time-domain FDTD method. This boundary condition is based on the use of chiral absorbers, which are well suited for this application. Further, we present se¨eral numerical examples to illustrate the effica

## Communicated by G. F. Roach New explicit stability conditions are derived for a linear integro-differential equation with periodic operator coefficients. The equation under consideration describes oscillations of thin-walled viscoelastic structural members driven by periodic loads. To develop s
