nect design as such. The maximum insertion loss level obtained with this geometry is y0.96 dB, and the bandwidth ลฝ . where the return loss was better than 10 dB was found to be approximately 11%. Further improvement in the performance can be expected, because only a few of the dimensional parameters have been involved in the optimization process.

4. Conclusions

Results were presented for a new, relatively simple microstrip line to rectangular waveguide interconnect. Close comparison between measured and predicted results was found, which illustrates the accuracy of the numerical model implemented. It was also shown that interconnects with low insertion loss can be designed, which illustrates the effectiveness of this particular interconnect configuration.
