β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
The reaction between formic acid and HOBr in strongly acid aqueous media was studied by absorption spectrophotometry at 298 K. Bromine, the monitored species, displays a transient behavior, gradually rising up to a maximum and then decaying with firstβorder kinetics. Reaction rates, expressed as R = βdC~Br2~/dt, depend on the concentrations of HCOOH (0.1β1.4__M__), HOBr (0.3β1.5 Γ 10^β3^ M), and H^+^ (0.1β1.0__M__). The mechanism

Primary amides are known to be oxidatively rearranged to the corresponding isocyanates when they are treated with lead tetraacetate (LTA) and with phenyliodosoacetate (PIA). The isocyanates can be isolated when the reaction is carried out in nonaqueous solvents [I]. The isocyanates are converted int
## Abstract **BACKGROUND:** The hydrolysis of methyl formate is the major industrial process for the production of formic acid. The aim of the work is to determine the reaction kinetics quantitatively in the presence of formic acid catalyst, develop a mathematical model for the reaction system and
