โœฆ Synopsis


The kinetics of the osmium( VIII) catalyzed reduction of octacyanomolybdate( V) and octacyana tungstate(V) ions by Se(IV) have been studied in an alkaline medium. The reaction is first order with respect to M(CN)i-ions (M = MO, W) and the osmium( VIII) catalyst.

The second order reaction rate constants are 4.30 X IO4 M-' min." and 2.60 X IO3 M-' see-' at 293 K respectively. A reaction mechanism is proposed.
