The reaction of living polystyrene with chloro-ended polystrene was studied to examine "the kinetic excluded volume effect" on the intermolecular reaction between reactive chain-ends of two monodisperse polymers. The reaction of living polystyrene with 1-chloropentane was also studied as a model rea

β¦ Synopsis
A study has been made of the rate of reaction of polymers containing different reactive groups. Poly(ethylene oxide) with isocyanate end-groups has been reacted with poly(ethylene oxide) with hydroxyl end-groups. Polymers with higher molecular weights were found to give lower rates of reaction. It was not possible to find an analogous low molecular weight compound which gives a reasonable rate of reaction compared to the polymers. This suggests that the rate of reaction is very dependent on the environment of the reacting groups and brings a possibility of ambiguity into the conclusions.

## Abstract The kinetics of reactions of polymer units depending on the closest vicinity is analyzed. The derived equation can be applied to transformations of homopolymers into copolymers. It directly allows (by fitting of the calculated kinetic curve to experimental data) to determine the corresp
Primary amides are known to be oxidatively rearranged to the corresponding isocyanates when they are treated with lead tetraacetate (LTA) and with phenyliodosoacetate (PIA). The isocyanates can be isolated when the reaction is carried out in nonaqueous solvents [I]. The isocyanates are converted int
