Abstract
The reaction of atomic chlorine with CH~3~CH~2~OD has been examined using a discharge fast flow system coupled to a mass spectrometer combined with the relative rate method (RR/DF/MS). At 298 Β± 2 K, the rate constant for the Cl + CH~3~CH~2~OD reaction was determined using cyclohexane as a reference and found to be k~3~ = (1.13 Β± 0.21) Γ 10^β10^ cm^3^ molecule^β1^ s^β1^. Mass spectral studies of the reaction products resulted in yields greater than 97% for the combined hydrogen abstraction at the Ξ± and Ξ² sites (3a + 3b) and less than 3% at the hydroxyl site (3c). As a calibration of the apparatus and the RR/DF/MS technique, the rate constant of the Cl + CH~3~CH~2~OH reaction was also determined using cyclohexane as the reference, and a value of k~2~ = (1.05 Β± 0.07) Γ 10^β10^ cm^3^ molecule^β1^ s^β1^ was obtained at 298 Β± 2 K, which was in excellent agreement with the value given in current literature. ## Abstract The mechanisms of the reactions: CH~3~CFCl~2~ + Cl (R1) and CH~3~CF~2~Cl + Cl (R2) are studied over a wide temperature range (200β3000 K) using the dualβlevel direct dynamics method. The minimum energy path calculation is carried out at the MP2/6β311G(d,p) and B3LYP/6β311G(d,p) levels,
The reaction I 0 + CH,SCH, + products (3) was studied at room temperature and near 1 Torr pressure of He, using the discharge flow mass spectrometric technique. The rate constant was found to be k3 = (1.5 \* 0.5) x cm3 molecule-' s-'. CH3S(0)CH3 was detected as a product suggesting the following cha

A flash photolysis resonance fluorescence technique has been employed to investigate the kinetics and mechanism of the reaction of OH(X 2 ) radicals with CH 3 I over the temperature and pressure ranges 295-390 K and 82-303 Torr of He, respectively. The experiments involved time-resolved RF detection
