✦ Synopsis


We present preliminary results of a kinematically complete measurement of the Coulomb dissociation of 83 MeV/u 8 B on a Pb target. A dipole magnet separated the unreacted beam from the breakup fragments. We measured the Coulomb dissociation cross section at low relative energies in order to extract the astrophysical S factor for the 7 Be(p, γ) 8 B reaction.

Angular distributions at 0 ° < 0s \_< 10 ° were measured for the Coulomb dissociation of 8B in the field of 2°Spb at Ein=51.9 MeV/u. The data were analyzed using a quantum mechanical method where El, E2 and g=2 nuclear amplitudes are included. Extracted very small E2 components supports our previous
