## Abstract A new architecture of dual‐stage erbium‐doped fiber amplifier with double‐pass preamplification is successfully demonstrated. A maximum gain of 52 dB is obtained at −50‐dBm signal power with 1550‐nm signal wavelength. An efficient filtering of amplified spontaneous emission improves gai
