โฆ Synopsis
A rapid, simple and sensitive fluorimetric method has been developed for the determination of hydrogen sulfide with fluorescein as fluorogenic reagent (hex = 493nm, A+,,, = 518nm) at pH 6. 1 -8. 3. A linear calibration curve was obtained in the range 0. 003 -0. 25 pg H2S/25 ml. The detection limit is 0. 003 pg HzS/25 ml. The method was successfully applied to the determination of atmospheric hydrogen sulfide.

A simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amounts of hydrogen sulfide after fixation in a zinc acetate trapping solution is described. A postcolumn liquid chromatographic procedure for the determination of cyanide with fluorimetric detection was developed. The method is based on both the separation of cyanide ion in the ion-exclusion mode and the postcolumn fluorescence derivatization of cyanide ion with o-phthalaldehyde or naphtha
The reversible formation of dithiourethanes from fluorescein isothiocyanate and mercaptoethanol or mercaptoethylamine has been studied. It is shown that it is possible to use the reaction as the basis for a spectrophotometric titration of a number of isothiocyanates with mercaptoethanol.
