✦ Synopsis

Femtosecond time-resolved bleach experiments are conducted on relaxed benzene excimers in the neat liquid. No motional absorption broadening mechanisms are detected in the visible excimer band using 60 fs laser pulses. The initial value and decay time of photobleach anisotropy in this band, along with the absence of rapid bleach evolution, raise new questions concerning its assignment.

Time-resolved absorption spectra of P r phytochrome were obtained using a regeneratively amplified femtosecond titanium : sapphire laser system. The early time transient absorption spectra are comprised of prompt P r photobleaching, stimulated emission, and excited-state absorption features that dec
