The title compound, C~19~H~17~N~3~, was synthesized by the reaction of 4-methylbenzaldehyde and cyclohexane with malononitrile under solvent-free conditions at 293 K. Conformational disorder is observed in the cyclohexene ring and both the major and minor components adopt half-chair conformations. N
