โฆ Synopsis
Ahdract-The ductile limit state of a thin-wallcd cylinder with an axial external crack has been stud&i. The limit state occurs when the applied moment rcachcs the limit value for a given section. It is pointcd out that the main computational difficultiu arc concerned with quantifying the ability of the crack containing scction to resist the simultaneous action of a bmding moment and other loadings. A number of variants of the limit prusurc evaluation have bum proposed. All the variants am in gcod accordance with experimental data and give similar results at considerable positive axial force (more than 0.243 of the limit).
An empirical layout taking into account the wall thickness of comparatively thick-walled pipes has bunt proposed.
