✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A novel monopole rectangular printed antenna has been investigated. The simulated result shows wide operating impedance‐bandwidth at two different center frequencies which are verified experimentally with −10‐dB return loss bandwidth of about 3.17 GHz (4.19−7.36 GHz) and 2.43 GHz (8.695–11.125 GHz). © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract The monopole dumbbell‐shaped antenna fed by a 50 Ω microstrip line for ultrawideband (UWB) application is studied. By tuning the dumbbell‐shaped radiator and height of the feed gap (D), the monopole antenna has a 2:1 VSWR (return loss < 10 dB) from 2.89 to more than 15 GHz. The bandwidt
