Puzzolanic i.e. calcium hydroxide binding property of two samples of silica-fumes has been investigated. To study their puzzolanic activity they were mixed with Portland cements in various proportions. These mixes were used either to make pastes or a concrete mix. The presence of calcium hydroxide i

✦ Synopsis
The authors quote us (I) as saying the fume we examined was an effective pozzolan; they then suggest on the basis of their x-ray diffraction results that the presence or absence of calcium hydroxide in their mixtures showed the fumes they examined to have low pozzolanic activity.
