CZV h-C1 i3sor action has been achieved by reacting chlorine atoms with hydrogen iodide in a fast (ea. 165 m/see) flow mixing device. The output consisted of the P(4). ( 5), and (6) lines of ffie 2-I vibratfotal transition.

Lasing action has been observed following pulsed electrical discharges in mixtures of H2 and Cf20. The range of laser output covered approxlmstely 3.6 to 4.0 pm. A chain mechanism is proposed for this system, and Iasing action is attributed to H-F Cl2 -+ HCl\* + CIO.
