β¦ Synopsis
A least squares control algorithm for single-input single-output (SISO) systems is del>eloped. The algorithm allows for a delay with large dead time and uses proportionalintegral-derivative actions in their parallel form to achieve steady-state without error. Optimization of the controller parameters is achieved and the parameters of the controller are determined from the solution of a set qf linear simultaneous equations. The control strategy is to optimize the controller parameters such that a desired well-behaved trajectory is obtained. The controller is shown to be robust and the al~gorithm is shown to function as well without or with Iurge dead time, to have low sensitivity to changes in the dead time, and to aIloM. an adaptive estimation of changing sJatem parameters. The application of the developed algorithm to control the glucoregulatory system, based on a 4th-order digital model, is presented in tM'o cases : free time delay and with large dead time.

In this paper, a decentralized adaptive control scheme is proposed to address output tracking of a class of interconnected time-delay subsystems with the input of each loop preceded by an unknown dead-zone. A simple way to design a robust digital dead-time compensator controller for a class of common stable processes is suggested. The method requires limited and possibly inaccurate information on the step response of the process. The underlying idea is to model the process by a gain, lag and a dead-tim
The practical stability of optimal stochastic control systems for processes having dead-times is considered. Previously obtained necessary conditions for practical stability of such systems are generalized using Pontryagin's theorem on the roots of two-variable polynomials. The conditions are expres
This paper presents a new dead-time compensator for stable and integrating processes when a reduced model of the process is considered. The output is estimated from a discrete time representation of the continuous time model and the tuning of the controllers can be made by any classical control desi
