✦ Synopsis

Aba&act -The electrocatalysis for the chlorine evolution reaction on RuOs and Ir02 electrodes was &US& on the ba.& of& activation energy. The activated complex with the pentagonal bipyramid-type structure was speculated to be formed in the transition state for the Heymvsky reaction. The activation energy for this reaction was evaluated by using the difference of the crystal field stabilization energy between the initial and transition states. The good agreement was obtained between the calculated and found values.
