โœฆ Synopsis

Two theories of the penetration and scattering of radiation in crops are compared, and shown to be formally identical when scattering is neglected. The theories predict differently the relative amounts of photosynthetically active and near infrared radiation under crops. Comparison of these predictions with measurements under two crops favours the theory of Ross and Nilson, rather than that of Monsi and co-workers.
