β¦ Synopsis
The relative yields of spaced plants of inbred lines derived from different seed stock of forage rape were compared with F1 hybrids among these lines. The hybrids between inbred lines derived from the same parental seed stock showed a mean superiority of 8.8 ~ and the hybrids between inbreds from different stocks showed 19.6 ~ superiority over the inbred lines in early vegetative growth. This hybrid superiority is discussed in relation to the development of superior varieties.
