Abstract
The applicability and acceptability of the BβD pen device (Becton Dickinson & Co) with Humulin insulin cartridges (Eli Lilly & Co., Ltd) in the daily treatment of one hundred diabetic patients were investigated during a threeβmonth open study. Questionnaire ratings demonstrated a high degree of patient acceptability, with no change in frequency of hypoglycaemia. A total of 94% of patients completed the study and all preferred the pen device to conventional syringes.
