โฆ Synopsis
The reason for chromosome mosaicism being sometimes confined to only part of the conceptus is unknown. To address this problem, we produced tetraploid<---~ diploid chimaeric mouse conceptuses. At 121/2 days, no tetraploid cells were detected in the fetus. They rarely contributed to other derivatives of the primitive ectoderm lineage but were commonly found in the primitive endoderm and trophectoderm lineages. This provides a useful animal model of human confined placental mosaicism and suggests that the primitive endoderm (hypoblast) lineage should be included in future studies of human mosaic conceptuses.

In our case, the absence of phenotypic abnormalities indicates that the supernumerary genes present in this de novo marker do not include those which are responsible for the high pathogenicity of chromosome 16 trisomy. It would be of interest to identify the loci present in this marker. This might h
This report describes a case of apparent confined placental mosaicism for trisomy 8 in a pregnancy which produced a male infant with intra-uterine growth retardation. Postnatal cytogenetic and molecular studies were consistent with biparental disomy 8. Postnatally, the infant experienced a period of
Karyotypically normal fetuses with completely trisomic or mosaic placentae may be at increased risk for intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). Molecular and cytogenetic analyses on nine pregnancies with confined placental mosaicism (CPM) for trisomy 2 were performed at two collaborating centres. Se
