✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Post‐Traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is defined and treatment discussed from a combined biologic, psychologic, and social perspective. Literature relevant to each parameter is discussed. Pharmacologic interventions are described along with guidelines to carrying out the psychotherapeutic process which should accompany the former. Finally, insight is offered into the problems of the PTSD patient in using social support, with suggestions for their treatment.
