A wet-surface heat-exchanger, where the effluent air is moistened, is analysed according to a thermodynamic theory and data of experimental tests. An entropy generation function, which takes into account the changes of temperature and humidity of air, is derived. The analyses show that it is thermod

Use of pitch-dolomite refractories in steelmaking ladles Chumarin, B. A. et al. Metalhug., 1997, (7) 13-16. (In Russian) Using pitch binder, lime-periclase refractories and the technology for lining ladles with the refractories were developed and implemented. The starting materials used were dolomite and coke pitch. A furnace for heat treatment of linings was developed and put into operation. The composition of the refractories fabricated was CaO 55.5-58.0%, MgO 35.0-37.0%, SiOa 2.5-3.0% and RsOs 3.0-4.0%, they had a density of 2.91-2.93 g/cm3 and a tensile strength of 40-60 MPa.
