Molecules of the title compound, C 15 H 14 ClNO, are linked into chains along the c axis by intermolecular N-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds. The xylene and chlorobenzene rings deviate from the amide plane [C( O)-N] by 77.8 (1) and 29.7 (1) , respectively.
