✦ Synopsis

Among the intermetallic compounds of 3d elements, candidates are sought for inclusion in the heavy fermion fold, including some superconducting Laves phases and A15 phases. Some examples of partial spin compensation with low temperature small moment ordering, analogous to CeA12, are pointed out. It is suggested that the stronger hybridization with other band states of 5f states in U than of 4f states in Ce might explain the more frequent occurrence of paramagnetic --antiferromagnetic -superconducting sequences in the U compounds. This sequence has been suggested to exist in some Cr-based alloys.
